Author Ashish Kaul files civil contempt against Kangana Ranaut after HC rejects Javed Akhtar’s plea
New trouble for Kangana Ranaut, Contempt petition filed by Author Ashish Kaul.
A few days ago author Ashish Kaul has filed a case against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut regarding copyright infringement over the film, Manikarnika Returns. Now a new turn has taken place in the case. Author Ashish Kaul has filed a contempt petition in the Bombay High Court against the actress.
According to the report, Ashish’s lawyers Adnan Sheikh and Yogita Joshi sent a letter to Javed Akhtar, stating that he learned from his response that the passport application had been tampered with. This is a serious crime. They further stated that they were responsible for drawing attention to the Bombay High Court, and that if fraud against the court was proven, the consequences would undoubtedly occur.
On Monday evening, the actress took to her Instagram handle and praised the Bombay High Court’s decision of refusing lyricist Javed Akhtar’s plea in her passport renewal case. It so happened that the court refrained from hearing an intervention application filed by Akhtar’s legal representative. The application alleged that the Manikarnika star misled the court for procuring assurance from passport authority on her passport renewal.
In the copyright infringement case the author made it clear that he will be opposing any relief to the actress in the copyright case. In return, Kangana and her brother Akshat Ranaut have filed a petition in the Bombay High Court to quash the FIR against them in the said case.
