Director Rumi Jaffery says Rhea Chakraborty’s appearance would neither add benefit nor incur loss
Rumi says, people’s perception about Rhea has evolved for better in an year
The appearance of starlet Rhea Chakraborty, who sparked outrage last year after the death of her lover, actor Sushant Singh Rajput, would not have an impact on the next film Chehre, according to director Rumi Jaffery.
Jaffery told IANS, “Rhea portrays a very crucial role in the story and she has performed a really fantastic job. Our film was created long before all of this drama erupted. The movie would have been released in April of last year if the pandemic had not begun. I don’t believe her participation will add value to our film or detract from it.”
Rumy Jaffery believes that the environment of hatred and hostility that Rhea Chakraborty encountered last year is evolving.
“I believe people’s attitudes are progressively shifting. You can tell Rhea isn’t being bullied as much on social media today as she was last year,” Rumi Jaffery remarked.
“Sushant’s demise was incredibly tragic, but whatever occurred throughout the nation involving Rhea and her family is also absolutely heartbreaking,” he continued. ” Let the judge decide who is and is not responsible. Rhea was branded a ‘witch’ and a ‘gold-digger’ last year, but things have changed in a year.”
Rumi Jaffery explained what his next film Chehre is about: “Everyone has a ‘chehra’ (face) that others can see and other face that we cannot see.” That is what we attempted to depict in the movie.”
Jaffery also stated that he sought to redefine himself with ‘Chehre,’ and he hopes that if the movie is successful, it would boost people’s trust in him.
“With this film, I attempted to do something different and redefine myself. I wanted to build something that would make people say, yeah, Rumi Jaffery, you can do something like this too! Someone who can script ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ can likewise write a movie like ‘Chehre.'”
“I worked really hard and made many sacrifices for this picture. If ‘Chehre’ is well received, producers and performers will have greater faith in me. So I simply pray to god that this picture works,” Rumy Jaffery said optimistically.
‘Chehre,’ featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi, Annu Kapoor, Krystle D’Souza, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Raghuvir Yadav, Siddhanth Kapoor, and Rhea Chakraborty, will be released on August 27.
