Indian Idol 12 Grand Finale: Pawandeep Rajan lifts the trophy, Arunita Kanjilal, Sayli Kamble Runner-Ups

Indian Idol 12 grand finale wound up the marathon run of 12 hours, and Pawandeep Rajan has been declared the winner. Arunita Kanjilal ranked 2nd and Sayali Kamble came in at the 3rd position.

The sensational singing reality show ‘Indian Idol 12’ pulled its curtains down on Independence Day i.e, on 15th August, Sunday. The 12-hour long finale saw many stupefying performances by the top 6 contestants – Mohd Danish, Pawandeep Rajan, Arunita Kanjilal, Sayli Kamble, Shanmukhapriya, and Nihal Tauro. They have fought all odds in the prolonged season of the show and have made it thus far. The grand finale ended in a great fashion with people’s favorite, all-rounder Pawandeep Rajan lifting the winner’s trophy of the 12th season of Sony TV’s musical reality show. Pawandeep also won prize money of Rs 25 lakh and a car. Arunita Kanjilal and Sayali Kamble emerged runner-ups.

The Grand Finale not only featured several performances from the finalists, but many special guests also participated in the event. Javed Ali, Sukhwinder Singh, Raghav Sachar, Mika Singh, Sadhana Sargam, Annu Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, and Kiara Advani graced the finale episode. The highlights of the finale were solo performances of Kumar Sanu, Sonu Kakkar, and Alka Yagnik. Alka paid tribute to Lata Mangeshkar and revealed she watches Indian Idol regularly. Sonu was one of the singers who rendered folk melodies. Her performance with Sawai Bhatt was spellbinding. To boost the contestants’ confidence, south star Vijay Deverkonda sent a video message telling them how much he enjoys Indian Idol. Also, the Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2 lead pair Nakuul Mehta and Disha Parmar made an appearance during the finale.

The finale, which began at noon and continued till midnight, was planned to celebrate the show’s success over the years. During the marathon 12-hour run, the contestants paid emotional tributes to the Indian Army, Navy, Airforce, and other defense organizations with their performance.

Talking to a leading channel, director Neeraj Sharma shared that the team is looking forward to creating history with Indian Idol Season 12. Stating that they always had big plans for the finale, he said, “If there was no pandemic, we would have hosted the finale in a big stadium, and we are confident it would have been a sold-out show. This season has been loved so much and given it’s the last episode, we wanted to do something really special, and thus the 12-hour episode came in place.”
