Karan Johar’s Fabulous lives of Bollywood wives was born on a flight to Delhi
Producer Karan Johar has said that he got the idea of making the series, Fabulous lives of Bollywood wives while on their way to a ‘chautha.’
There lies a story behind the inception of the web series, Fabulous lives of Bollywood wives which was produced under the Dharma circle for a Netflix release. Karan Johar and his girls, Maheep Kapoor, Seema Khan, Bhavna Pandey and Neelam were on a flight to Delhi for the condolence gathering (chautha) of the father of a dear friend. This journey of theirs was an ignition to the thought and plot of the glamorous web series that made alive the Kardashian feeling for Indians.
Karan has been a close friend to the wives of Bollywood stars and has regular meet-ups with them. On a show organized by Janice Sequeira, Karan said, “These four ladies are very special to me and have been for nearly two-and-a-half decades. But I want to tell you, the origin of this show happened on a flight. We took a flight to Delhi, we were actually going for a condolence meeting. One of our friends lost their father. We were on a flight to Delhi and that’s when I realized, and I have always known it, that these four women are completely crazy.”
The trip to Delhi was where the ladies demanded Karan for a show of their own. Karan, with his ever creative but dramatic mind, wove the perfect candid show for the ladies to star in. The show went on air and the audience was mesmerized with its creation.
